The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera inaugurated its farm-to-market community sub-project road in Bowas, Bangao in Buguias, Benguet last March 28.
The farm-to-market road project is worth more than P1 million. Bangao is one of the 10 barangays in the municipality targeted by the second cycle of the Kapit-bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-National Community Driven Development Program (Kalahi-CIDSS-NCDDP) of the DWSD-CAR.
Bangao Punong Barangat Ramon Ganasi said the community made the road wider and thicker compared to the project’s original specification for it to last long. “Concrete and wide road is what people need and projects like this come only once in a while,” he said.
KC-NCDDP Area Coordinator Glenda Lomino said the project is “a humble product of the community through cooperation, unity, diligence and resourcefulness.” She added that the members of the community should be open-minded and flexible, especially in decision making.
The community thanked the barangay officials, Kalahi members, and those who extended their help and cooperation from the start of the implementation until its completion.
Kagawad Ador Kebeng acknowledged the funding agency, LGUs, and the community who made the project possible.
Municipal and barangay officials with Pastor Felecio Bayacsan and DSWD-CAR attended the blessing and inauguration of the project.
Lee Ann U. Omaweng, municipal community empowerment facilitator said some FMR, irrigation system, and two school building projects in the first cycle were completed and turned over to the communities of barangays of Lengaoan, Poblacion, Calamagan, and Catlubong, respectively.
She said during the second cycle, seven out of eight FMR were implemented while two day care centers will be established in barangays Natubleng and Baculongan Sur and will be turned over after its completion before the year ends.
