25 PDLs in MP complete TESDA construction painting training
by Whitney Keri M. Fokleg

Twenty-five persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) completed skills training on construction painting conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Mountain Province in partnership with the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology-Mountain Province.

The training, which was held April 1 to 5, was facilitated by Ranier B. Andaya, an accredited trainer in Construction Painting NC II.

The training course enabled the participants to prepare tools, painting equipment, and materials needed to yield the best construction painting output.

Through the training, the PDLs will be given the opportunity to learn, gain the right qualification, enhance self-esteem, gain confidence, and increase employability, which provides boundless opportunity for future employment and resist re-offending upon their release.

The BJMP recognized the participants on April 28. The certificates were awarded by Tesda-Mountain Province Acting Director Felixberto B. Matute, Jr. and Jail Inspector Pablo A. Las-egan, Jr.

“Tesda is always here to assist and to provide the skills you need when you go back to society,” Matute told the PDLs as he urged them to enhance and continue applying the skills and knowledge acquired during the training and use it to generate income for themselves and their family.

“All we want is for you to commit yourself in the training/assistance provided, participate actively and attend regularly,” he added.

Matute said Tesda’s intervention will continue and more skills training will be provided alongside the intensified effort of the national government in the implementation of Executive Order 70.
