Roadshow set for MSMEs in CAR
by Press release

The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), in partnership with the City Government of Baguio, National Economic and Development Authority-Cordillera, and Department of Trade and Industry-CAR, held an online regional roadshow on Competition Law and Policy for the Cordillera on July 22 via Microsoft Teams.

The webinar offered an opportunity for participants to learn about the Philippine Competition Act or Republic Act 10667, the mandate of its fairly new implementing agency Philippine Competition Commission, and its relevance to the local economy of the Cordillera, especially for businesses and consumers navigating the movements in the region’s demand and supply amid the pandemic.

As competition authority of the country, PCC promotes market competition and investigates anti-competitive mergers that result monopoly or elimination of emerging rivals in the market, anti-competitive agreements, such as cartels and bid-riggings, and abuses of dominance among businesses.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong Mayor, City Government of Baguio, NEDA Regional Director Susan Sumbeling, DTI Assistant Regional Director Juliet Lucas; PCC Chair, Dr. Arsenio M. Balisacan; and PCC Executive Director, Dr. Kenneth Tanate were the speakers.

The event kicked off a series of online regional roadshows organized by PCC to fulfill its commitment to improve public understanding of competition law and policy.

The rest of the roadshows is set in Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula on Aug. 11, 18, 25, Sept. 8 and 22.
