Electric ovens, kitchen utensils given to 25 STEP-Abra scholars
by Christian Allister G. Tubadeza / PIA

TUBO, Abra – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority provincial office handed over starter toolkits last week to 25 Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) scholars from the different barangays here.

Each graduate under the Bread and Pastry Production NC II program received 45-liter capacity electric ovens and kitchen utensils.

STEP is a community-based training program that seeks to address the specific skills needed in the communities. It is among Tesda’s scholarship programs that aim to provide free quality technical vocational education and training to deserving beneficiaries in the country.

TESDA-Abra Director Braulio Dela Peña and Tubo Mayor Guilbert Ballangan led the awarding of the toolkits during the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) convergence and orientation in Barangay Kili.

Dela Peña said the skills of the scholars coupled with starter kits will enable them to generate income on their own through entrepreneurial, self-employment, and service-oriented activities.

“With these new set of starter kits, we believe that you will able to practice and put to good use the training and skills you have gained from Tesda,” he said.

Celina Lawagan, one of the graduates of the training program from Barangay Tiempo, said she has started employing the techniques she learned.

“I thank Tesda and Tubo LGU because I am now producing cakes and pandesal after completing the training course on bread and pastry production,” she said.
