TESDA launches 3rd batch of Project Silaw in Kapangan
by TESDA release

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Benguet and its partners launched the third batch of the project that aims to train beneficiaries on solar panel installation.

Tesda-Cordillera Director Manuel Wong and Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas led the launching of the Project Solar installation Among Locals to Advance their Welfare (Silaw) on Aug. 28 at Sitio Topdac, Pudong, Kapangan.

Project Silaw aims to energize households in remote communities by training beneficiaries on solar panel installation, a skill that can also provide them with livelihood opportunities.

Tesda-Benguet oriented the 15 beneficiaries on the project’s details and the opportunities that it can bring them. The eight-day skills training began on the first week of September.

Representatives from different agencies committed they will inspect the installations to ensure the quality of material, its usability, and its durability.

Wong thanked the partners of the project. “We are glad to launch the third batch of Project Silaw, which aims to provide electricity, skills training, and livelihood to the community through solar panel installation. We hope that this will not end with the solar installation but a continuous livelihood is not only limited to our 15 beneficiaries but for the whole community.”

Pudong, Kapangan is the third beneficiary of Project Silaw, which was first implemented in Lusod, Kabayan and Ambongdolan, Tublay. After Kapangan, beneficiaries in Badeo, Kibungan will undergo the same training.

These barangays were identified by the Provincial Task Force-Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster, considered as Geographically isolated and Disadvantaged Areas and belonging to 4th class and 5th class municipalities of Benguet.
