10-km farm-to-market road in Kalinga set for turnover
by Press release

The improvement of Bado Dangwa-Guilayon Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) in Tabuk City, Kalinga is scheduled for a ceremonial opening and turnover on Sept. 30.

Implemented under the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), the 10.4-kilometer FMR has a project cost of P230.65 million funded by the World Bank with counterpart funding from the DA and the city government of Tabuk.

PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office Deputy Director Danilo P. Daguio said the early completion of the FMR is a record breaking accomplishment for a big infrastructure project such as the Bado Dangwa-Guilayon FMR.

Daguio said the subproject was completed six months early than the target date of completion.

Provincial Agriculturist and head of the Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit Domingo A. Bakilan said the early completion of the FMR subproject is due to the good partnership among the implementing unit; the contractors; and the national, cluster, and regional offices of the PRDP.

Rural Infrastructure Engineer Myric P. Ticuala said that the two-month suspension due to quarantine restrictions did not affect the subproject’s timeline.

“Once construction activities were finally allowed to resume, the contractor complied with the construction health and safety guidelines imposed by the Inter-agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the supplemental guidelines on community and occupational safety and health for the construction activities to fully resume,” Ticuala said.
