by Larry Lopez / PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Micro and small entrepreneurs here are expected to improve their management and production skills after the Advocacy on Sustainable Innovation, Science and Technology (ASIST) workshop given by the Department of Science and Technology.

Norberto Cobaldez of the DOST-CAR said the activity is in line with the department’s continuing effort to develop micro businesses, which comprise largely the country’s trade sector.

The local entrepreneurs were taught to aim for quality products and improved services as the activity was intended to develop in them the Tabukeno Asensadong Buhay sa Usapang Kalakalan or Tabuk.

Cobaldez said higher profit is not always gained through pricing, but on how to increase sales through product quality and friendly service. This, he said could be achieved when good management is combined with the use of new technology.

Included in the workshop topics were consultancy on agricultural productivity, Manufacturing Productivity Extension Program, energy audit, good manufacturing practices, food safety, and cleaner production technology.

Cobaldez said there will be a second-level consultancy training for interested participants.
