Gov’t jobs top vacancies on Labor Day job fair
by DOLE release

Close to 18,000 job vacancies in the government topped the list of openings in the nationwide simultaneous job and business opportunities on May 1.

The vacancies formed part of the 204,000 available local and overseas jobs offered by over 1,000 agencies in 31 sites across the country.

Openings for government jobs include positions for officers and non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Other local available jobs are mostly in services like customer service representative, machine operator, and in the field of construction under the Build Build Build program.

Also top vacancies are collection specialist, cashier, retail/sales agent, accounts specialist, service crew, utility staff, bagger, and skilled sewer.

For overseas placement, the vacancies include those for factory worker, nurse, machine operator, welder, house worker, waiter/waitress, baker, including English teachers for Thailand.
Sec. Silvestre Bello III said the jobs are open to all those seeking employment.

“We are thankful to the companies for making available volumes of opportunities for our workers on Labor Day. We also expect other agencies of government needing manpower to join us,” Bello said.

Underscoring the need for construction workers, he said the sector has a high demand for these workers in projects under the Build Build Build infrastructure program of the Duterte administration.

The jobs caravan is a collaborative undertaking of DOLE, Department of Trade and Industry, and the Build Build Build agencies – the Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation, Department of Finance, Department of Budget and Management, National Economic Development Authority, and the Bases Conversion Development Authority.
