Vendors appeal for relocation site

The Wright Park Bridle Path Vendors Association is appealing for a relocation site and legalization of their stalls through the issuance of a building permit.

The current stalls are due for demolition to give way to the construction of a view deck, with contract that has been awarded to a Japanese contractor since 2015.

City Buildings and Architecture Office Head Nazita Bañez said government is under no obligation to relocate the vendors.

Napakinabangan na nila ‘yun nang matagal,” Bañez said.

She added that it is not the city government’s responsibility to relocate the stalls because there is no law mandating the city to do so.

Wright Park Bridle Path Vendor’s Association president Julius Ampal said  they agreed to vacate the area but asked to be relocated so they can continue with their livelihood.

Ampal said that in their previous meeting with Mayor Mauricio Domogan, they were assured that they will be relocated at the car park located a few meters away from the area they are currently occupying.
