Golf operators have 10 days to secure permit
by Jho Arranz / PIO

Only one golf course in Baguio has not secured a business permit, the Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) reported.

Baguio Country Club Corporation has not registered nor applied for a business permit to operate. The PLD will be issuing another notice for the BCC to apply and process the required permit and will be given 10 days upon receipt to comply. Also, the Treasurer’s Office will compel BCC to pay back taxes, arrearages, and penalties.

If its fails to comply, a closure order will be issued.

The first notice to BCC was issued on June 13.

The PLD report is in compliance to a recently passed resolution of the city council directing the division to require all golf courses to secure permits to engage in business and to submit a report regarding the compliance within 15 days.

Golf courses in the city are operated by the BCC, Camp John Hay Development Corporation and Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Corporation.

Vice May or Edison Bilog, author of the resolution directing the PLD to inspect the golf courses said that if ordinary stores are being compelled to secure permits, golf courses operating in Baguio should do the same.

The income derived from the operation golf course activities will be used to augment the city’s resources.
