Tublay tourism reopen to residents
by Ofelia C. Empian

Tublay, Benguet has opened for local residents at least four tourist destinations that will operate until Jan. 6.

In an order, Mayor Armando Lauro has allowed the opening of the Ahonda caves, rock formations and jungle adventure, and the Balete tree, all located in Barangay Tuel and the Ridge Cafe and Polig’s Berry farm both in Barangay Ambassador.

“A clamor for the reopening of tourism sites and activities in the municipality has been considered by the local government in deep concern of the need of the people to restore their physical and mental state through visit of tourism sites in the locality,” Lauro said.

Those visiting the tourist sites are required to show a barangay pass or any ID or document to prove their residency in Tublay.

The operators of tourist sites are required to strictly implement physical distancing; signs and marking must be visible for the visitors to remain at least one meter apart; and adopt a minimum carrying capacity per site at a time.

Also, they must provide a logbook at the entrance; face mask must be worn by guests and staff at all times; and they must immediately contact health authorities once encountered a visitor or staff with Covid-19 symptoms.

Visiting bikers or riders are reminded to carry with them their updated health declaration form at all times.

Personnel of Tublay Municipal Police Station, concerned barangay officials and their designated health and safety protocol officer shall oversee the compliance to health and safety protocols.

The municipality is also preparing its other existing tourist destinations such as the Paterno and Bengaongao Caves in Barangay Ambongdolan and Bayokbok falls in Tuel to be opened this year.
