Fallen pine trees cuts power in 50 Baguio, Benguet barangays

Several barangays in Baguio City, parts of Itogon, Bokod, Tuba, and La Trinidad in Benguet; and Sison in Pangasinan experienced power outage after a pine tree fell on the mainline in Ambuklao Road.

The power interruption started around 7:47 p.m. of  May 14, affecting 35 Baguio barangays, namely Pacdal, Mines View Park, Gibraltar, Pucsusan, Lualhati Village, Outlook Drive, Lucnab, parts of Country Club Village, Outlook Drive, South Drive, parts of Cabinet Hill-Teachers Camp (near and along South Drive), Country Club Village (including Baguio Country Club, Camp John Hay, except Voice of America), Happy Hallow, DPS Compound, Greenwater Village, Military Cut-Off, Sta. Scholastica Village, Scout Barrio, Upper Dagsian, Lower Dagsian, Hillside, Gabriela Silang, Camp 7, Camp 8, Poliwes, San Vicente, Balsigan, parts of Bakakeng Norte/Sur (Ciudad Grande, Eagle Crest, Montebello Village), Loakan Proper, Liwanag-Loakan (Lower Liwanag and areas tapped along Kennon Road backbone line), Loakan Proper, Atok Trail, Kias, PMA, and Loakan Apugan.

In Itogon, Benguet, barangays Tuding, Ucab, Gumatdang, Virac, Loacan, and parts of Poblacion IT (Maligaya) were also affected by the power outage.

Power was also cut off in Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet; five villages in Tuba – Camp 4, Camp 3, Twin Peaks, Tabaan Sur, and Camp 1; and La Trinidad – Beckel (Lamut area) and parts of Ambiong (near Lamut).

A portion of Dungon in Sison, Pangasinan was also affected by the power interruption.

Based on the advisory of the Benguet Electric Cooperative, the sole electric power distributor for Baguio and Benguet, electricity in Ambuklao was restored at 12:09 a.m. while power at Camp 1 and Camp 4 were restored around 3:45 a.m.

The firm hoped to restore power in the remaining areas by 11 a.m. of May 15.

Baguio experienced a heavy downpour with gusty winds on afternoon of May 14 due to Typhoon Ambo.
