COMELEC-Tuba holds off-site registration in brgys, schools
by PNA release

TUBA, Benguet – The Commission on Elections registered last week around 1,500 first time voters from this town during its satellite registration activity in villages and schools.

“The Commission through a resolution has allowed us to conduct a satellite registration for the convenience of the voters,” Carmelita Genove, Comelec-Tuba election officer, said.

She said off-site registration activities in schools and villages started in the first week of August and were held at the barangay halls of Camp 6 and Twin Peaks, at the Tuba National High School, and Taloy Sur NHS.

Among those who registered were youths aged 15 and above for the Sangguniang Kabataan polls.

“We have registered voters in schools, in barangay halls, even students have availed of the off-site registration,” she said.

She said the off-site registration activities aimed to increase the number of registrants.

Tuba is spread out on the three main highways leading to Baguio City, making it difficult for people to proceed to the municipal hall for registration.

Some 130 new students voters from grades 9 to 12 have been registered during the on-campus voter registration.

Genove said registration for new voters, reinstatement of registration, and transfers would be accepted until Sept. 30.

She urged the public to beat the Sept. 30 registration deadline and visit the Comelec office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Saturdays.

Last Sept. 27, voter registration was held at Nangalisan NHS and at Philex Mines last Sept. 28.

Tuba has the third biggest voting population in Benguet with 26,000 after La Trinidad and Itogon.

In the 2018 SK elections, the town yielded the most number of voters for the sector.
