2 nabbed for drugs in buy-bust ops

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Two suspects were arrested for possession of illegal drugs during a two-day buy-bust operation conducted by the operatives of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Benguet Police Provincial Office-Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU).

Arrested on Sept. 24 is Jaime Asqueta Apellido, 36 years old, single, porter, native of Pangasinan, and resident of Tabangaoen, Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Seized from the suspect were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

Also arrested on Sept. 23 is Alexander Chavez Gucilatar, 45 years old, married, driver, native of Quezon Province, and a resident of Wayside, Puguis, La Trinidad.

The suspect sold to a poseur buyer one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu.

Seized from him were the P5,000 buy-bust money and one cellular phone used in the transaction.

The suspect was reloaded as street level target of the Directorate for Intelligence.

He was turned over to the Benguet Provincial Jail based on the inquest resolution signed by Associate Provincial Prosecutor Caroline W. Cuilan, with no bail recommended for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act  and P2,000 recommended bail for violation of Section 15 of the same law.

P/Maj. Roldan E. Cabatan, La Trinidad MPS chief of police, and P/Lt. Jeremias Toyokan, chief of PDEU, led the operatives together with members of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and Regional Intelligence-14 during the buy-bust operations.

P/Col. Elmer E. Ragay, officer-in-charge of the BPPO, commended the personnel in their intensified campaign against illegal drugs in line with the Philippine National Police’s Letter of Instruction Sangbanat and Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation.
