LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Department of Education-Cordillera welcomed its new assistant regional director last week.

Florante E. Vergara officially assumed as the officer-in-charge of the Office of the Assistant Regional Director of DepEd and replaced Bettina Daytec-Aquino, who was re-assigned to the Finance Services of DepEd central office.

Aquino served as assistant director in the Cordillera since Nov. 6, 2017 while Vergara served as schools division superintendent in several provinces and cities in the Cagayan Valley region.

Vergara, in his acceptance message, enjoined all division offices, schools, and personnel to cooperate and work collaboratively to ensure that DepEd-Cordillera programs and projects will be implemented with the seal of good governance and transparency.

Present during the installation and tribute were DepEd-Cordillera Director May B. Eclar, Region 2 Regional Director Estela L. Cariño, and the superintendents and staff members from both regions.

Schools division superintendents in DepEd-Cordillera were also reshuffled by virtue of reassignment orders from DepEd Sec. Leonor M. Briones.

Abra will be supervised by Gloria B. Buyao while Apayao will be under Sally B. Ullalim.

Taking over Baguio City is Marie Carolyn B. Verano; Benguet, Benilda M. Daytaca; and Ifugao, Benedicta B. Gamatero.

Kalinga will be headed by Amador D. Garcia, Mountain Province by Federico P. Martin, and Tabuk City by Irene S. Angway.

The reshuffling was due to the reassignment of Apayao superintendent Ronald B. Castillo as the new assistant regional director of Region 1 on Sept. 18.
