TESDA grants NCII to 19 PDLs in Trinidad

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total of 19 persons deprived of liberty received certification from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority as proof that they have acquired skills and competencies during their incarceration.

“We are not just providing skills training to our clients, but we make sure that can land a job once they finished their trainings. That is why it is a must to asses them and certify those who pass the assessment,” said Tesda Baguio-Benguet Provincial Director David Bungallon.

He said that providing free skills training and assessment and free certification through convergence will give persons deprived of liberty the chance to gain new skills after their release.

Of the 19 PDLs assessed and certified, 14 were males and five were female graduates of community based training on Massage Therapy NC II.  

The 19 trainees took the free competency assessment on Sept. 29 to 30conducted by Assessment Center International Skills Assessment and Academe of Must’ Er Piece, an accredited Tesda assessment center.

Competency assessment is the process of establishing the competencies of an individual in accordance with promulgated competency assessment tools. 

All the trainees were found competent and are eligible for a National Certificate in Massage Therapy NC II.  The NC will likewise serve as a proof of their skills and competencies.

Persons deprived of liberty in Baguio are also undergoing skills training on manicure and pedicure leading to beauty care services NC II.

The training started last Oct. 2and will end on Oct. 15.

A total of 24 participants are undergoing training.

They are scheduled to undertake the on-site competency assessment and certification on Oct. 16
