COMELEC extends deadline of SOCE filing to June 13
by Redjie Melvic Cawis / PIA

The Commission on Elections has extended for one day the deadline of filing the Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) of all candidates in the May 13 midterm elections.

Benguet Provincial Election Supervisor Nicasio Jacob said the Comelec has extended the filing of SOCE to June 13, from June 12, which is a holiday.

Pursuant to Republic Act 7166, all persons who filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) and all electoral parties shall file a true and correct SOCE within 30 days from election day.

Three hard copies and one electronic copy in Excel and in PDF format of the SOCE shall be filed in person before the Comelec.

SOCE forms may be downloaded from www.comelec.gov.ph.

Jacob reminded candidates and parties that failure to submit SOCE may result in the imposition of administrative sanctions against them.

Incomplete statements and reports shall also be imposed an administrative penalty.

Based on Comelec Resolution 10505, an incomplete report does not contain all the required information or does not conform to the prescribed form.

Candidates or parties who are late in filing their SOCE may be subject to administrative penalty.

Winning candidates may file their SOCE within six months from the date of proclamation but prior to the submission of SOCE, they are prohibited from assuming office as provided for in RA 7166.

In 2018, the Comelec perpetually disqualified a total of 105 candidates to hold public office due to repeated failure to file their SOCE after past elections.
