60–year–old run over by jeep, 2 bodies found in Baguio

A burning candle together with a bunch of flowers were placed in the area where the 60-year-old woman was ran over by a passenger jeepney on the afternoon of March 1 at the Magsaysay Avenue sinkhole. 

The police identified the victim as Florida Valdez, who according to witnesses was suffering from mental disorder, and with address in Sablan, Benguet.

According to the report, the victim was seated on the ground in front of the jeepney when the driver, identified as Benzer Sales, was unaware of her presence when he started the vehicle and accidentally ran over Valdez.

Due to this, the victim sustained serious injuries that caused her death. Dr. Dandeo Halog of the Baguio City Emergency Medical Services pronounced her dead at about 2:20 p.m.

The incident is under investigation.

Meanwhile on Feb. 28, a body was discovered at around 8:05 a.m.  in a creek at the boundary of Camp 8 and Hillside in Baguio.

The body was identified as Ruben Faroden Ofo-ob, 38 years old, driver and resident of Hillside. 

According to the police report, the body was found facing upwards and with injuries.

Scene of Crime Operatives and the Baguio City Police Office processed the crime scene while family members of the victim decided that the body will undergo autopsy examination for the cause of death.

Another body was found on Feb. 27 at about 9 a.m., this time inside her residence at Bonuan Condominium at Happy Glen Loop at Barangay Salud Mitra.

The victim was identified as Lally Medalla Lacey, whose body was found by a guard on duty.

Investigation revealed that the guard on duty was roving on his post when he noticed droplets of blood coming from the second floor.

He immediately reported the incident to Police Station 3.  Police personnel proceeded to the said place and the officers knocked on the victim’s door several times but no one responded.

In the presence of Punong Barangay Jose Acosta and a representative of Benguet Electric Cooperative, authorities forcibly opened the room of the victim. The victim was found lying flat on her back on the wooden floor inside her room.

SOCO processed the scene and stated the victim was dead for more than two days and was in a state of advance decomposition upon discovery. The case is also under investigation.
