CSC orders offices to submit drug tests
by Rimaliza A. Opiña

The Civil Service Commission ordered all heads of government offices to submit the results of the mandatory drug test conducted on government workers.

In a memorandum issued on Oct. 6, and signed by CSC-Cordillera Director Marilyn Taldo, all heads of national government agencies, local government units, government owned and controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, and other agencies were ordered to submit their respective compliance reports on the drug test done on government employees, this year.

All offices were directed to submit to the CSC’s Policies and Systems Evaluation Division or to any CSC field office on or before Oct. 17.

Pursuant to CSC Memorandum Circular 13-2017, all government officials and employees were required to undergo mandatory drug test, within six months from the effectivity of the guidelines on the conduct of the tests. The guidelines took effect on April 18, and the deadline is on Oct. 18.

The conduct of the mandatory drug test is to ensure that government agencies remain drug-free. The test is also a condition for continued employment in government.
