P500K robbed from foreign UN–FAO worker in La Trinidad
by Ofelia C. Empian

A foreign member of the United Nations-Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO) and presently residing in La Trinidad, Benguet was robbed while he was on vacation with his family.

The victim, 63-year-old Ajambar Rai, a native of Nepal, complained to the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station that his house was robbed between 11:30 a.m. of Nov. 23 and 8:30 p.m. of Nov. 28.

Rai said they discovered that a cash amounting to $10,000 (P503, 345.00) and around P5,000 were missing when he and his family arrived home.

Based on the police report, Rai and his family left their house secured on Nov. 23 and went to visit their farm in Aringay, La Union.

Four days later, when they arrived on 9 p.m. of Nov. 28, his son noticed that the door to their room was opened.

It was then that they figured that the cash inside their room was stolen.

Personnel of the LTMPS conducted an investigation at the crime scene and revealed that the doorknob of the house has no sign of forced entry.

However, the sliding window at the comfort room of the house that was not locked might allegedly be the point of entry of the robber/s while they used the main door as an exit point.

No security camera was installed at the vicinity of the crime scene.

The authorities processed the crime scene where they were able to lift two latent prints. The case is under follow-up investigation.
