Benguet Police Provincial Office officials led by S/Supt. Benjamin Lusad dominated this year’s individual and unit awards on the occasion of the 111th Philippine National Police in Camp Dangwa Friday.
Lusad, the second youngest member of Philippine Military Academy Class 1985, has been adjudged as the best senior police commissioned officer for administration while his deputy, Supt. Mario Mayames, member of Philippine National Police Academy Class 1998, is the best senior police commissioned officer for operation.
S/Insp. Loyd Oribillo, Bakun’s chief of police, was conferred best junior police commissioned officer while SPO2 Dino Sagayo, an investigator at the La Trinidad police station, is this year’s best junior police non-commissioned officer.
Oribillo is the regional winner for this year’s search for PNP LEAD model awards.
Robilyn Rojas of the Regional Personnel and Human Resources Development Division is the best non-uniformed supervisor while Genevieve Pablo is the best non-uniformed personnel in the non-supervisory level.
Benguet PNP dominated all the four major unit awards with the provincial command being adjudged as the best provincial office and best provincial public safety company. The La Trinidad PNP is the best municipal police station and with the best Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD).
It is the first time that Benguet PNP reaped major individual and unit awards.Benguet Gov. Nestor Fongwan vowed full support to the provincial command.
“We are humbled by the awards but at the same time, we are challenged to do more and be role models in delivering police service to the people,” Lusad said.
This year’s special awardees are S/Supt. Joseph Adnol for making the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division the best RIDMD nationwide, and PRO-Cor’s Regional Internal Affairs Service as best RIAS nationwide.
PRO-Cor’s Regional Health Service is also the best National Administrative Support Unit while the 3rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Public Safety Company is best in the category.
The Regional Crime Laboratory Office was also adjudged the best National Operation Support Unit while the WCPD of the Baguio City Police Office is the best in the category nationwide.
PO3 McArthur Sumakey of the Benguet PNP was named the communication chief of the year nationwide.
Plaques of appreciation were also given to individuals and institutions from the government and private sector.
Baguio Rep. Bernardo Vergara, the guest of honor and speaker, challenged the Cordillera police command led by Director Benjamin Magalong to strive for excellence and quality police service to the Filipinos.
“Police service awaits everyone without fear or favor. Ang serbisyo kay Juan at Pedro ay serbisyo din kahit kanino,” Vergara said.
