LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera expressed its gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the war on drugs in the region during the 26th Philippine National Police Foundation anniversary last week.

The success of the war on drugs is seen in the declaration of Abra, Apayao, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Kalinga as drug-free provinces.

The significant accomplishment in the war against drug is a collective effort given the support, cooperation, and commitment of the local government units, the various advisory councils, non-government organizations, civil society organization, religious sector, and individuals who one way or another contributed in achieving  PRO-Cor’s vision  of  making the community a safe place to live, work, and do business, said Director Elmo Francis Sarona.

He called for a continuing partnership in the fight against illegal drugs and criminality, as he assured that the men and women of PRO-Cor are true to their oath of service.

Baguio City Rep. Mark Go, who was the guest of honor and speaker, stressed the importance of partnership between the uniformed personnel and the public in the pursuit for peace and the advocacy to preserve lives.

“Being a collective force – policemen and civilians, guided by our integrity as human beings and as patriots – the fight against all what God and the laws of our country declare as evil must continue for our families, communities, and the nation,” Go said.

“In pursuit of our dream for a brighter future for our people and our country, we must take a lead in shaping a cultural revolution and let us take pride of our country,” he added.

Sarona and Go headed the PNP Foundation program  that started  with  a wreath  laying  at  the Heroes’ Monument inside the police camp,  followed by the awarding of plaque of recognition to PRO-Cor’s partners in the fight against drugs.

Those who received the plaque of recognition for their provinces were Gov. Elias Bulut Jr. for Apayao, Gov. Jocel Baac for Kalinga, and Gov. Pedro Mayam-o for Ifugao.

Mountain Province Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan was represented by Angel Baybay and Abra Gov. Maria Jocelyn Bernos by Danglas Mayor Denise Florence Bragas, whose municipality is also a recipient of the same PRO-Cor award.

The other awardees were the Department of Health-CAR, Ifugao Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Baguio City Social Welfare and Development Office, Philippine Information Agency-CAR, UNTV and ABS-CBN Baguio, and members of the PNP Press Corps.
