PSA seeks public aid in conduct of surveys
by Ma Teresa B. Beñas / PIA

BANGUED, Abra – The Philippine Statistics Authority here sought public cooperation in the conduct of different surveys to ensure the validity of data.

“We appeal for your cooperation by giving complete and correct information to our data collectors to ensure the validity of our data bank as I assure you of the confidentiality of all data gathered by our office,” said PSA provincial head Felixberto Perdido.

This year’s major operation will be the conduct of the Annual Poverty Indicator Survey, which is vital for the planning functions of line agencies that provide basic services and infrastructure facilities to the people.

The PSA also does the regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly monitoring surveys on palay and corn situations, detailed price survey on agricultural commodities in public markets, and weekly cereal and fertilizer price monitoring.

As the PSA prepares for the conduct of the 2020 Census of Population, it is also set to undertake the 2019 Annual Survey on Philippine Business Industry and the Survey on Information and Communication Technology.

Aside from the primary mandate of the PSA of conducting Census of Population, it is also mandated to do civil registration.

He said the release of birth certificates, certificates of no marriage, and other civil registry documents is five working days.

In outlets like Vigan City in Ilocos Sur, documents are released within the day, he added.
