Abra elders undergo training

BANGUED, Abra – Officers of the Federation of Senior Citizens of Abra (FSCA) underwent a series of organizational development and capacity building trainings in observance of the Elderly Month celebration in October.

The Association of Senior Citizens is the biggest and most organized consumer group hence, their representation in the Abra Consumer Network (Consumer Net).

In one of the meetings of the Consumer Net, FSCA president Marino Trinidad raised the need for organizational development and capacity building trainings for their organization.

The Consumer Net chaired by Engr. Irene B. Bringas, chief executive officer of the Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative together with the Department of Trade and Industry headed by Provincial Director Arell F. Bañez tapped Philippine Information Agency-Abra Infocen Manager Maria Teresa Beñas as the resource speaker and facilitator of the training on “How to Run Meetings with focus on Parliamentary Procedures” last Oct. 25. The training involved role playing, video viewing, and lecture-discussions and sharing of experiences.

Aside from the training, the FSCA also participated in a series of forums on consumer welfare and protection with the Consumer Welfare Desk, roadshow on trade development, and another seminar on consumer welfare with focus on the amendments on the Senior Citizens Charter for continuing education and empowerment.
